Lupillo Rivera, born Guadalupe Rivera Saavedra in Long Beach, California, is a Grammy Award-winning American singer and songwriter renowned for his significant contributions to the Regional Mexican genre. His musical journey was shaped by his father, Pedro Rivera, the owner of the recording label Cintas Acuario.
Initially known as “El Torito” and later acclaimed as “El Toro del Corrido,” Lupillo began his career by working at his father’s studio, scouting local talent in bars. In 1999, he transitioned to using his own name and signed with Sony Discos, marking the start of a meteoric rise. Lupillo’s success includes multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, with a notable win for his 2010 album “Tu Esclavo y Amo.”
Beyond his musical prowess, Lupillo Rivera ventured into coaching, participating as a mentor on the 2019 season of “La Voz,” showcasing his enduring influence in the industry. His journey exemplifies a passion for music and a lasting impact on the Regional Mexican music scene.
